Sons & Daughters of Thunder, a new film by award-winning filmmakers Kelly and Tammy Rundle of Fourth Wall Films in Moline, is an Official Selection at the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival and will screen twice during the festival April 3-4 at the Collins Road Theaters located at 1462 Twixt Town Rd, Marion, Iowa.
"We are very honored by this recognition for Sons & Daughters of Thunder and everyone involved in the project," said producer Tammy Rundle. "We are especially pleased to share this news with Earlene Hawley's family, as the film is based on the play she and Curtis Heeter wrote together in the 1970s."
The docudrama tells the true story of the early debates on emancipation and the awakening of Harriet Beecher Stowe to the horrors of slavery.
The producers note that the film is not for young children, and the 96-minute film’s detailed discussions of slavery might suggest a PG-13 rating.
Sons & Daughters of Thunder will screen Saturday, April 4 at 10:10 a.m. and at 6:00 p.m.
