The second episode of American Experience's The Abolitionists airs on PBS tonight (January 15, 2013). It promises to feature Harriet Beecher Stowe's story more prominently than the first installment.
If you missed Part One, you can watch it online here: http://video.pbs.org/video/2323777396.
"The story of how abolitionist allies William Lloyd Garrison, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Beecher Stowe, John Brown and Angelina Grimke turned a despised fringe movement against chattel slavery into a force that literally changed the nation."
The final episode airs on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.
We think the series is a wonderful introduction to the subject, and it leaves the story of the Lane Seminary Debates, and Harriet Beecher Stowe's awakening, for us to tell in "Sons & Daughters of Thunder."
