"Hemingway" preview hosted by WQPT April 2 at Bluegrass Drive-In

WQPT hosts a special FREE preview screening of Ken Burns new documentary HEMINGWAY at the Bluegrass Drive-In, Friday, April 2nd at 8:00pm. The 30-minute preview of the film will kick off the evening. (The full three-part, six-hour documentary is available on the PBS Video App Monday, April 5th.)

 

Students and teachers who attend the event receive free SWAG and the opportunity to win a Kindle Fire HD Tablet and other cool prizes!

"The Nightmare Before Christmas" follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown's beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world." When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life -- he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.

WQPT presents "The Age of Nature" at special Blue Grass Drive-In preview screening Oct. 8

WQPT will present a special preview screening of the documentary  The Age of Nature on Thursday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Blue Grass Drive-In Theatre.

 

 "The 3-part documentary series brings together inspirational contributors, rare archive material and stunning imagery from around the world, to give us a deeper understanding of Nature and our place within it," WQPT posted in its promotional announcement.

 

Explore humanity’s relationship with nature and wildlife, as scientists and conservationists from all over the world examine ways we can restore our planet. This documentary series asks whether newfound awareness of nature could bring about a new chapter in the human story.

The 1996 block-buster Twister will screen following the 45 -minute preview of The Age of Nature.

See "Incredibles 2" & "AntMan and the Wasp" at the Blue Grass Drive-In This Week

Remember the good ol' summer days when the family and the dog would pile in the car and head to the Drive-In Theater to see movies under the stars?  The good ol' days are still here!  Blue Grass Drive-In (the Quad Cities Drive-In), located 774 W. Mayne St. in Blue Grass, Iowa, is open March through the end of October.

The Drive-In is a family-friendly environment that offers a double-feature showing.  This week's entertainment features Incredibles 2 and Ant-Man and The Wasp Friday, July 6-Thursday, July 12.

 

 
The ticket booth opens at 7pm Monday-Thursday, and 6pm Friday-Sunday.  Admission is $9/adults; children 4-12 $4; children under 3 are free.  Tickets can also be purchased online at BLUE GRASS DRIVE-IN.  

 

The Blue Grass Drive-In Theater does not allow smoking or alcohol, and outside food and drinks are not permitted.  The website states: "Our concession stand is full of tasty food and snacks for you to enjoy! The concession stand is our only source of revenue so please support our business! We accept cash, debit and credit cards."

 

Arrive early to get the best parking spot.  And, yes! The family dog is welcome, as long as it is on a leash and you clean up after it.
