"Fiddler on the Roof" at Cinemark Dec. 13 & 14

In director Norman Jewison's boisterous cinematic adaptation of this international Hal Prince-Jerome Robbins smash-hit stage musical, we find ourselves in the picturesque Ukrainian village of Anatevka, in which resides Tevye ([Chaim] Topol), an impoverished milkman with a sharp-tongued wife, Golde (Norma Crane), and five unmarried daughters to support. But family troubles will soon become insignificant. Tevye, his family and their neighbors and friends are faced with the choice of losing their lives or losing their homeland. Monday Movie of the Month Series at Bettendorf Public Library

The Bettendorf Public Library celebrates storytelling through the art of film with its new "Monday Movie of the Month" series.

Film lovers can view a film at 6 p.m. on the second Monday of each month through June 2020. This movie series will explore several tried-and-true film genres through pairings of classic and modern films. Free to the public!

Genres explored in the six-month series will include musicals, westerns and noir. 

This month's classic musical is Meet Me in St. Louis starring Judy Garland and Margaret O'Brien.

"My Fair Lady" at the Cinemark Feb. 17 & 20th

Synopsis:  In this beloved musical, pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison) is so sure of his abilities that he takes it upon himself to transform a Cockney working-class girl into someone who can pass for a cultured member of high society. His subject turns out to be the lovely Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn), who agrees to speech lessons to improve her job prospects. Higgins and Eliza clash, then form an unlikely bond -- one that is threatened by an aristocratic suitor (Jeremy Brett).
