"A League of Their Own" comes to Cinemark April 26, 27, 29

Fathom Events and TCM present the classic film comedy A League of Their Own at Cinemark Davenport,  3601 E 53rd St, Davenport, Iowa:

A League of Their Own stars Tom Hanks as washed-up ballplayer Jimmy Dugan, who is hired to coach a team of athletic and driven young women including Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis), the "baseball Dollie" with the Babe Ruth swing, her younger sister Kit Keller (Lori Petty), and teammates Mae Mordabito (Madonna) and Doris Murphy (Rosie O'Donnell). A League of Their Own is a comic look at the true story of these amazing young women who left their homes to become part of the league and revel in a skill they might once have been ashamed of and made history in the process. Join the members of the All-American League (from cities near and far) at this special event includes exclusive insights from Turner Classic Movies.

With iconic titles that span five decades, the TCM Big Screen Classics Series has something for everyone! An unmissable lineup begins in January and continues monthly throughout the year as Fathom Events and TCM bring some of the greatest titles ever back into movie theaters.

"Father of the Bride" Screens at Classic Film Society June 8th at 6:30PM

The Classic Film Society presents the delightful classic gem "Father of the Bride" Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 6:30pm at Marycrest Senior Campus, Upham Hall Auditorium, 1607 W. 12th Street, Davenport, Iowa.

Father of the Bride is a 1950 American comedy film directed by Vincente Minnelli, about a man trying to cope with preparations for his daughter's upcoming wedding.^[4][5] The film stars Spencer Tracy in the titular role, Joan Bennett, Elizabeth Taylor, Don Taylor, Billie Burke, and Leo G. Carroll. It was adapted by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett from the novel by Edward Streeter. Father of the Bride was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay.

Classic Film Society Features "The Egg and I" May 11 at 6:30PM

The Classic Film Society presents the beloved classic film "The Egg and I" starring Claudette Colbert, Fred Murray, Marjorie Main and Louis Allbritton on Saturday, May 11, 6:30pm at Marycrest Senior Campus, Upham Hall Auditorium, 1607 W. 12th Street, Davenport, Iowa.

Synopsis: On their wedding night, Bob (Murray) reveals to Betty (Colbert) that he has purchased an abandoned chicken farm. Betty struggles to adapt to their new rural lifestyle, especially when a glamorous neighbor seems to set her eyes on Bob.

The romantic comedy was directed by Chester Erskine and Marjorie Main received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and the film inspired eight subsequent Ma and Pa Kettle features.

Classic Films Reign for Halloween in QC

Tuesday, October 23 at 6PM! Don't miss Mel Brook's comedy classic Young Frankenstein (1974) starring the brilliant comedic cast of Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, Teri Garr and Peter Boyle (to name just a few). Synopsis: An American grandson of the infamous scientist, struggling to prove that his grandfather was not as insane as people believe, is invited to Transylvania, where he discovers the process that reanimates a dead body. Wednesday, Oct. 24th and Thursday, Oct. 25th at 7pm and 10pm. The Cinemark Theaters in Davenport brings back a horror classic for its 50th anniversary and just in time for Halloween. Night of the Living Dead (1968) screens  Synopsis: There is panic throughout the nation as the dead suddenly come back to life. The film follows a group of characters who barricade themselves in an old farmhouse in an attempt to remain safe from these bloodthirsty, flesh-eating monsters. Comic Classic "Mr. Blanding Builds His Dream House" Screens Sept. 8

The Classic Film Society presents the comic classic "Mr. Blanding Builds His Dream House" starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy on Saturday, September 8, 6:30pm at Marycrest Senior Campus.

When advertising executive Jim Blandings (Cary Grant) discovers his wife's (Myrna Loy) plan to redecorate their New York apartment, he counters with a proposal that they move to Connecticut. She agrees, and the two are soon conned into buying a house that turns out to be a complete nightmare. Construction and repair bills accumulate quickly, and Jim worries that their future hangs in the balance unless he can come up with a catchy new jingle that will sell ham.  Directed by H. C. Potter the film was released in 1948 and still pleases audiences.
