Nearly 100 students and community residents gathered during two recent showings of Lost Nation: The Ioway in Mason City, Iowa. As shown above, the new full-featured high-quality DVD of the film was used for the screening and several viewers purchased their own DVDs after the program.
The showings at North Iowa Area Community College were part of the schools celebration of National American Indian Heritage Month (November 2008). The Ioway movie poster was featured along with other Native American-themed items in a display outside the library (photo above).
The month is declared each year by proclamation by the president of the United States and according to the White House website the purpose is to, "...celebrate the rich ancestry of American Indians and Alaskan Natives and recognize their many contributions to our national story."
