Travelers, history enthusiasts, scenic-day trippers and Seniors will want to motor in for a special presentation on historic U.S. Highway 6 at the Bettendorf Public Library on Thursday, June 20 at 1:30 p.m. Writers Curt and Libby Roseman will share a wealth of fun and fascinating stories, trivia and information on Old Route 6, the 3,662-mile transcontinental highway that runs right through the Quad Cities.
The Rosemans and scholar Kevin J. Patrick, Indiana University of Pennsylvania Professor of Geography and Regional Planning, have been collecting and compiling information on U. S. Highway 6 for their website dedicated to information on the historic route that held America's longest transcontinental title for 28 years--extending from Provincetown, Massachusetts to Long Beach, California.
"Our ongoing investigation of Route 6 emphasizes not only the road itself, but also its roadside landscapes and its regional and historical contexts," the website states.
