SGT. Tony Lopez Pompa (a.k.a. Tony P. Lopez)
Born on January 17, 1924, Tony Pompa entered the United States Air Force in July 1941 where he served with the 717 Bomb Squad H. 449 Bomb Group.
On January 31, 1944, SGT. Pompa's airplane was observed crashing into a mountain in Italy. He is listed as "killed in action" on that date.
P.F.C. Frank Sandoval
Born on September 5, 1920, P.F.C. Sandoval entered the U.S. Army on October 3, 1942. He served in North Burma with Co. C 209 Engineer Combat Battalion. Frank was listed as "killed in action" on June 26, 1944. Frank and Joe Sandoval were brothers.
PVT. William L. Sandoval
Born September 16, 1923, PVT. Sandoval served in the U.S. Army's Co. F, 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.
On October 6, 1944 William's outfit was overrun while engaging the enemy near Zyfflich, Germany and he was listed as missing in action. Sandoval was officially listed as "killed in action" on October 7, 1945.
Staff SGT. Claro Solis
Born on August 12, 1920, SGT. Solis (Soliz) served with Company E. 120th Infantry Regiment of the 30th Infantry Division. Claro was "killed in action" in Belgium on January 19, 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge.
P.F.C. Peter Masias
P.F.C. Masias served with Co. C 139 Engineer Battalion. Peter was killed in Wesel, Germany on March 4, 1945.
P.F.C. Joseph H. Sandoval
Born on March 8, 1919, P.F.C. Joe Sandoval entered the Army in 1944 and served with Co. I 41st Armored Infantry Regiment. Joe and Frank Sandoval were brothers.
P.F.C. Sandoval's company position was overrun on the Bank of the Elbe River near Schonebeck, Germany and he was reported "missing in action" on April 14, 1945.
After a one-year investigation he was listed as "killed in action" on April 15, 1946.
P.F.C. Joseph Gomez
P.F.C. Joseph Gomez was born on November 13, 1929. He served with Co. K 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. Joe was awarded a Silver Star for gallant action against the enemy on May 17, 1951.
Gomez was killed May 28, 1951. V.F.W Ybarra-Gomez Post 8890 in East Moline, Illinois is named in his honor.
P.F.C. John S. Muños
Born on March 6, 1928, P.F.C. John S. Muños entered the Army on January 15, 1951 and served in Korea with Co. F 38th Regimental Combat Team Second Infantry Division.
John was "killed in action" in Korea on August 27, 1951.
