To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Historic Sleeping Bear in Empire, Michigan will host the event, “Celebrate Historic Sleeping Bear!” on June 29-30th.
The celebration will kick off with a special FREE showing of the award-winning The Barn Raisers documentary in the Olsen Barn on Friday, June 29th at 7:00 p.m.
The Barn Raisers, a documentary by Mid-America Emmy® nominated filmmakers Kelly and Tammy Rundle of Fourth Wall Films tells the story of barns in the Midwest by examining them through the lens of architecture. The film explores what building methods, barn styles, and materials tell us about the people who built them, the life they lived, and the role these “country cathedrals” played in the settling and building of the Nation. The Barn Raisers was shot in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa and Kansas and is a companion film to the Rundles’ Emmy® nominated historical documentary Country School: One Room – One Nation.
Saturday, June 30th will be an all-day event from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. featuring family activities and tours, ending with a fun-filled barn dance.
