The 1912 Villisca, Iowa Ax Murders is the topic featured on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Marengo Public Library, 235 East Hilton, Marengo, Iowa. Dr. Epperly will make a special appearance to talk about Iowa's worst mass murder. In addition, the award-winning short documentary "AXMAN" by Kelly and Tammy Rundle of Fourth Wall Films will be shown. The film profiles Epperly and his search for what may be a century-old serial killer.
Dr. Edgar Epperly began researching the 1912 Villisca, Iowa axe murders as a college student in 1955 when he traveled to Villisca for the first time with two friends where they interviewed Dr. Cooper, the first physician to examine the victims and the crime scene. 60 plus years later, he is considered the foremost authority on the Villisca axe murder case and his research into the crime is ongoing.
