Mid-Century Modern Home Features Unusual Push-Button Light Switches

 

Our 1957 mid-century modern home makes use of some unusual push-button light switches in three different places.

The photo above shows the exhaust fan switch in our original pink ceramic tile bathroom and the photo below shows similar switches in the remodeled-in-1978 sunken bar.  The third switch is in a lower-level utility closet.

Because these unique switches are in the sunken bar, I guess I am thinking they are products of the 70s (the little pick and purple flowers also might offer a clue).

Does anyone know anything about these unusual push-button light switches?

 

Sight Unseen

I'll admit it, I sometimes get excited about small things.  We purchased our new home sight-unseen.  Sure, my parents looked at it several times.  Yes, they sent a few pictures and some video footage.  I tried to research this type of Modern home on-line with mixed results (one of the reasons I wanted to do this blog!).  We parked our moving truck in a nearby parking lot and saw the house in person for the first time when we turned into the driveway.  All the exterior lights were on and we entered through the small garage door...and then stepped into the laundry room where we saw this turquoise sink!  It's one of several features seemingly untouched since the house was built in 1957.  Yes, the clock works and there is an overhead laundry chute!  Is my glee misplaced?  Probably, but let me enjoy the Mid-Century moment.
