Midwestern Midcentury

Mid-Century Modern Montreal Loft and Lake Forrest Viks House

 

I'm sure this mid-century modern home has been sold by now, but I enjoyed reviewing the photos.  It was designed by architect Jack Viks, a student of Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, and it's located in Lake Forrest, Illinois (north of Chicago).  The $2.6 millipn price tag included a 1000 square foot guest house.  Apparently this is the architect's own house.

A "Dahl" House in Des Moines - Mid-Century Modern to the Max

Built by the Dahl's Foods gorcery store founder in 1965, this home on a three acre lot in Des Moines, Iowa is dripping with mid-century modern appointments and listed for a "yeah, baby" $1.3 million.
