Mid-Century Lamp: Readstown Meets Ames (not Eames)

 

Our "new" (and funky) mid-century modern lamp was assembled from components found in two states.

 

In July we found a classic fiberglass shade with green stitching at an antique store in Readstown, Wisconsin.  It was only five bucks!  We couldn't pass it up, even though we had no idea what we were going to do with it.

 

Then we found this lamp base in an antique store in Ames, Iowa in October for $19.99.  It was labeled "ceramic" but the green part is a painted metal casting.

It turned out to be a pretty cool $25 lamp!

Mid-Century Modern Lamp Found in Remote Chetek, Wisconsin Cabin

Well, I guess it's not really that "remote", but it does make the blog title sound more intriguing.  : )

My parents rent a cabin on a lake in Chetek, Wisconsin once a year for vacation, and we usually try to join them for a couple of days.

The last time was before we moved into our Midwestern Mid-Century Modern home.  It's surprising how easy it is to spot these MCM items now.

Check out the lamp in the blond-paneled livingroom of this little cabin!

We also visited a number of Wisconsin antique stores and picked up a few small Mid-Century Modern items, but I'll save that for another post.
