I just want to thank everyone for reading our house blog during 2008. We have enjoyed sharing our "Mid-Century Modern Home Adventure in the Heartland" and we have even more to share with you in 2009!
I just installed a shower in our upstairs bath for under $100 (how does he do it--and why is he so cheap?) and we have picked up several interesting mid-century pieces in local and other antique shops for next to nothing (including a boss hi-fi console with a very unusual "moving" feature).
We're fine-tuning our home theater system (with 16mm film capability???!!!), mounting a damaged-in-our-move television set in a wall, and discovering information about our house at the local historical society.
In the new year I will also be adding two new features: Mid-century Modern Movies and Mid-century Modern Classic Cars. Finally, I will also feature interviews and photos with shopkeepers in the region who specialize in the unique 1940-1970 era we all find so fascinating.
Oh, I almost forgot, I also have dozens of photos of other flat-roofed MCM homes in the region and some really cool Frank Lloyd Wright homes and other buildings to share with you.
Whew! It's going to be an action-packed year! Please continue to visit MidWestern MidCentury, and don't forget to comment on our articles and, if necessary, correct our grammar and spelling.
As we continue to prove that mid-century modern home luvin' people are alive and well in Moline, Illinois--and the rest of the Midwest--we wish you all a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday season, and a healthy and prosperous New Year!
