Another Mid-Century Modern Bargain: Wooden Folding Chairs

They may be more Mid-Century than modern, but these wooden folding chairs look great in our 1957 (raised ranch?) house.

When deployed they are just as sturdy as regular dining chairs.  They've already been pressed them into service when family visitors from Cornell, Wisconsin dropped in for desert.

I know I'm burying the lead here, but they were ONLY $5.00 each at a local antique mall!  Truth really is stranger than fiction.

To Do List: it's time to close the pool here in Northern Illinois.

Early Mid-Century Modern Era Sideboard Bargain

We saw this sideboard at our local antique mall and snapped it up for a paltry $110.

Mind you, the doors and drawers don't function in top form, but it looks great and holds the usual dining room contents with cavernous ease.

Clearly it's at the early end of the 1940-1970 Mid-Century Modern era, but how could we pass it up?

Here's view with the table set for guests.  It looks right at home!

First Official Piece of "New" Mid-Century Modern Furniture for our Home

I spotted this mid-century modern china cabinet at the Antique Mall in Coal Valley, Illinois and knew exactly where to put it.

My wife was a little skeptical, and I can't really blame her.  It needed a little "love".

However, it cleaned up nicely and looks terrific in our diningroom.  Can you believe it was only $88.00?

A strategically placed stack of mid-century modern ashtrays covers a flaw in the finish.  : )
