The original 1837 Ioway Map on display at the Museum of Natural History in Iowa City in October 2007 during Native Ioway History Week.
Today, October 7, 2008, is the 171st anniversary of the 1837 Ioway Map presented in Washington, D.C. by Ioway leader No Heart.
It is also the official DVD release date for our new documentary film Lost Nation: The Ioway.
Those of you who preordered the film know that you have not yet received your DVD.
Thank you for your patience. We encountered some problems in the manufacturing phase of the project. In addition, editing the Ioway language track was more complicated and took longer than expected.
Today we reviewed and approved the first sample DVD discs from our replicator. The final DVDs will be manufactured tomorrow in New York, and we will have them in our office by the end of next week.
That means we will begin shipping Ioway pre-orders on October 17 or 18, 2008. All preorders should arrive at their destinations by October 25, 2008.
That said, we are pleased with the results of our work and we think those who ordered the DVD will be, too.
Here is a new review of the DVD (done using an early dual-layer DVD-R):
The Ioway DVD includes the 56-minute feature, an alternative soundtrack in the Ioway language, a filmmakers' commentary track, a 10-minute version for young children (K-4), and nearly two hours of additional video features divided into two categories: Ioway History & Culture and Ioway Archaeology.
You will need nearly 5 hours, if you view and listen to all of the material on this comprehensive DVD.
We apologize again for the delay, and hope you will be able to wait a bit longer for your DVD copy of Lost Nation: The Ioway.

I'm not worried. I know the DVD's will be more than worth the wait. I am giving them to family members for Xmas gifts. Our mother collected the McKinney-Hall Indian prints and would have loved to see what you are doing. Thanks!
