“Jean Seberg” Documentary Teaser to Premiere with “Country School” at Film Festival Opener

Landlocked will open its 5th annual Film Festival with the critically-acclaimed documentary Country School: One Room – One Nation on Thursday, August 25th, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City. The film will be followed by a special Q&A with award-winning filmmakers Tammy & Kelly Rundle and include a glimpse of their new upcoming film Movie: Star: The Secret Lives of Jean Seberg.  The husband and wife team have partnered with Emmy-nominated Garry McGee to produce a biographical documentary focusing on the controversial Iowa-born actress, activist and icon.

The Rundles’ Country School: One Room – One Nation has screened to packed theaters and venues since its premiere in November 2010.  More theatrical bookings throughout the U.S., a national DVD release later this year, and PBS broadcasts of Country School are planned for 2012.  Movie Star: The Secret Lives of Jean Seberg is slated for release in 2012.

Landlocked Opens Film Festival with "Country School: One Room - One Nation"

 
Country School: One Room - One Nation has been selected to open the Landlocked Film Festival on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. A special benefit reception will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Chef's Table, 223 E. College StreetEnglert Theater, Iowa City, Iowa. Tickets for the benefit event are $35/pp and include Hors d'oeuvres, Silent Auction, a pass to the 7:00 p.m. opening night screening of Country School in the Englert Theatre (next door).  A cash bar is also available.  Proceeds benefit the Landlocked Film Festival.

 
Those who are not interested in the benefit reception can see the film at 7:00 p.m. at the Englert Theare, 221 E. Washington Street.  Q&A with filmmakers Tammy & Kelly Rundle will follow the film.  Tickets for the film alone are $7/pp at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/190866.

Johnson County Historical Society Commemorates the One-Room School and Features "Country School"

The Johnson County Historical Society of Iowa is shining a spot light on the county's one-room schools and one-room school history.  Activities for all ages, informative presentations and speakers, and special film screenings all focused on the country school will fill the week-long event, running August 10th through August 14th, 2011.  

On Thursday, August 11th, the award-winning documentary Country School: One Room - One Nation will be featured at 6:00 p.m. at Clear Creek Amana High School Performing Arts Center, 551 W. Marengo Road/Hwy 6. A panel discussion with film producers Tammy and Kelly Rundle of Fourth Wall Films, Sue Grosboll, Ph.D., the director of the University of Northern Iowa Museums; Colleen Sehr, a former one-room school teacher and an elementary school teacher from Solon, Iowa; Kathy Grout, a student of Colleen Sehr's at a one-room schoolhouse in Johnson County; writer and preservationist William Sherman will follow the documentary.  The movie screening is free to the public. 

Prior to the Rundles' Country School documentary, IPTV's Iowa's One-Room Schoolhouses documentary will screen at 4:00 p.m. followed by a pizza dinner at 5:00 p.m. The dinner is $10/per person.

The Shell Rock Benny Gambaiani Public Library will feature Tammy and Kelly Rundle's award-winning documentary, Country School: One Room - One Nation, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m.  The program is free and open to the public.  A question and answer session with Barbara Dilly will follow the film.  Popcorn will be served at the special screening.

The film premiered at the State Historical Building in Des Moines last November and has been in limited theatrical release screening throughout the Midwest, as well as New York and New Jersey.

Country School has won several awards and will open the Landlocked Film Festival in Iowa City on August 25th, 7:00 p.m. at the Englert Theatre.
